Eli Powell (he/they) was born in Portland, OR and currently resides and works in Savannah, GA as a multimedia artist, specializing in mediums such as ceramics, oil painting, and silver smithing. They are a BFA student at Georgia Southern University, and have been featured in several juried exhibitions within and outside of academia, including winning 1st place in an aforementioned juried show. They had the opportunity to travel to Arrowmont for the first 2025 summer work-study session, which has profoundly influenced their work.
Eli’s work tends to explore themes of identity and locale, utilizing stylistic choices and repetitive motifs to represent his own feelings on the subject matter used. They are highly interested in investigating different materials, mediums, and methods of creation, finding that it is better to let the project determine the methodology rather than the other way around. Eli’s favorite place to be is elbows deep in clay or other messy materials, finding the most peace when creating sculptural elements.
